The neural energies probably dissipate and are added to the electro-magnetic field surrounding the earth, or other field that may be around....who knows?

First I think that you need to define what exactly you mean by "soul". We tend to talk about the "soul" as though it were an actual object of sorts, separable from the physical substance of the body. This fits nicely in line with the Western tradition of Cartesian dualism which posits a body infused by a soul, the soul being that self-referential think-therefore-i-am atom of being... whatever that is.
Those among us who subscribe to a more materialist perspective on the mind/body issue see the Cartesian view as a tautologic bit of philosophic footwork, with little correlation to observed reality. My observations would suggest that the "soul" is actually an epiphenomenon of the mind, which resides firmly in that wonderfully complex biologic computer called the brain. Were I to encounter strong evidence to the contrary, then I might change my view, but have not as yet.
Therefore, asking what happens to the soul when you die is akin to asking about the soul before you were born. I mean, I don't know about you, but my pre-toddlerhood (nevermind pre-conception) sense of self and thus "soul" was pretty murky to put it lightly. I fully expect that when I eventually turn in for my eternal dirt nap I will, "soul" and all, return to that blissful state of non-existence, and suspect that you will too.

Depends on ur view, if you beleive in Jesus, then the soul goes into a sleep, unawareness until Judgement Day. Each soul is unique and part of ur living consciencousness. Death is a transition, The final Judgement is everyones court date and u sleep in the lobby till then. Reincarnation violates every aspect of christian faith. There was a n idea in the Garden when Adam and Eve walked with God. They were to be the Origonal Trinity. They were all to be married as one. Reincarnation takes away from that and supposes Souls were drawn from a select 'pool' that just moves to the next. You have to believe every moment is unique, every experience new, the next moment unknown. We are so much like children in attempting to gain control, or power over things we do not understand. Again, the Christian Faith proves our entrance into confusion and an inabilty to unite here on earth with The Tower of Babel.
Thats if u beleive in Jesus.

If you really are open minded and are ready to take answers from any source, then according to Koran
The soul was intially created by the Will of God and was made to sleep. It was then fused in the earthly body to live a life on earth, which is a test of man's loyalty to God. When man dies, the soul will return to God and will be questioned on the day of judgment regarding its role on earth.

Well it depends on your believes. If you believe in another life I would think your soul joins you in your second life. Are if your Christian your soul separates from your body and goes to heaven.

Maybe if we would BE our souls while living we would not be so concerned about what happens after death.
I don't have a soul, I AM a soul.

The same thing as happens to the brain that believes that there actually is a soul.
The soul is a mythological idea, necessary only to connect us (in our own small divine way) to a divine God.
