Practice. Use discipline in your eating, spending, and other habits. Don't get that extra cookie or charge a purchase you didn't even plan to make. Practice, practice, practice. And when you reach an important goal- i.e. a weight loss goal, pay off a credit card, etc., then reward yourself - like save a little extra money and buy an outfit/ take a trip,etc. Get out there and do it!!!

Sitting. Not just like hanging on the couch watching t.v., but sitting in meditation. It's a Zen thing but it really does work. Sit for 30 minutes a day at the same time and focus on your breathing. Try to keep your mind clear.
There's also yoga or martial arts. If you have a hard time sticking to it, you can join a class.
Of course, you have to want to be disciplined, so the easiest thing to do is to find something positive that you love but that's also a challenge and get into the habit of doing it.
Self-discipline is putting off immediate gratification for long term gain - most notably to gain peace of mind. So just about anytime you can put off immediate gratification (eating more slowly, not buying some little luxury, etc.) you're on the road to learning self-discipline.

Hi electrobe!!!
The best way to increase self-discipline is, to think that every negative, wrong, decisions making will be making your life more difficult to live.
If you keep thinking every time you need to take a decision, if you can life with it, and make it productive for yourself and others;
you have a better chance taking better decisions, which increases self-discipline, boosts self esteem; making you a much better person by having more control of your life, therefore being more happy.
This in return will help you be more approachable, respectful,understanding, helpful,positive person.
GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY LIFE

Denial. If you start to deny things you like eating or doing ( pork, cheesecake)but no for a fact are unhealthy it helps you to concentrate more on whats important to you. I'm not saying if you've been smoking for 30 years, drop it , and expect wonders (even though your body would love you for it). I'm saying deny yourself small things (like watching Oprah when your supposed to be studying) And work yourself up. It builds a tolerance and you'll find yourself being disciplined in more areas.

My just asking this question makes it seem as if you want more self-discipline. There's nothing you can really do by force it into yourself with sheer force of will. It's your responsibility to give yourself goals and achieve those goals.
