The reason I ask, is surely my paranoid neighbors are muttering something to themselves as I do it. Since I am up at all hours of the night, some might think it a bit odd.

nothing,,, ive been home all day and its going on midnight and i still havent got the mail out of my box lol

seemslike there might be more to this question. It would depend on who it is.
If it is a neighbor, then no I don't think it is odd. Maybe that is the time that is conveinant for them.
Now if it is a spouse or boyfriend, I would think that was strange unless they worked wierd hours...

late work day or something i guess but its also maybe their own opinion. i do that too because i think thats when its kind of late to send mail so i can just check it all at once instead of going back check it 10 times a day. thats just what i prefer and ppl have their OWN opinions

sometimes i don't check mine until then... after coming home from work, making dinner, and getting the kids bathed and in bed it is sometimes the first chance that i get to get it from the mailbox and actually sit down with a cup of tea to go through all of it.
