Keturah is absolutely right. if you apply a thin line of dark liner on the outer third of your eye right above your eyelashes, they will appear larger. If you want to wear liner underneath the eye, avoid a hard line, it will make your eye appear smaller. Instead, use a medium brown smudged out line underneath, smudge it down to about a centimeter. Instead of white eyeliner on the inner membrane of the eye, opt for a pale yellow. White is obvious, whereas yellow matches the sclera (white part) of your eye more closely. Finally, a lighter inner corner and darker outer corner of the lid will always make an eye appear more almond. See the eyliner in this image: http://www.wwsm.co.uk/books/products/5261.jpg

Whatever you do, don't surround your eyes with eyeliner... believe it or not, that will make them look smaller, not larger. However, if you apply eyeliner on the top next to the lashes, starting at about a third of the way from the inner edge of the eye (the part closest to the nose bridge) and taking it to the outer edge of the eye and slightly beyond, this should help. Upper lid only! Finish it up with some mascara, and use some eye shadow (a couple of colors, one darker, one lighter, the lighter one higher up and the lower one just below the eyelid crease) to make those eyes really look wonderful. Definitely go with a dark mascara that will lengthen, curl and separate. I recommend Cover Girl's new Lash Exact with the plastic-like brush instead of the nylon which can contain clumps. Line the bottom rims of your eyes with a bit-darker-than-natural eye liner, and follow that up on both lash lines with a black eyeliner. Use white liner or eyeshadow on the inside corners of your eyes to make them seem brighter.

If you're going for something really wild, brush a bright eyeshadow over your lids and up to your temple to draw the attention up and out, making your eyes appear even wider.

It's hard to perfect eye make-up, but practice will help. The day before a big night out, practice what you're going to do with your makeup for two reasons:
1) so you won't get frustrated and have to start over again 50 times on the day of, and
2) so you can experiment with different colors that will bring the eye color you want out.

Good luck!

All the advice about the white eyeliner is correct. Apply it to the inner rim of the eye, both top and bottom. Use a black or crown eyeliner ONLY on top very close to the lash line. Use a good black mascara. As far as shadow goes, use lighter colors. Anything illuminescent will be good. Light shimmery colors will bounce light off of them and make them look bigger. Try to not use dark shadows, but if you want to use a shimmery one.

I'm kinda the opposite, but sorta similar. I have ginormous humongo eyes, that are the best feature of my face, and I try to draw alot of attention to them (I can't stand not having people look me in the eyes when we're talking, so it's a plus).

First of all, eyeliner, black, but not too much in that gross emo-y, punky, gothy or posery way. Just a quick dash with more towards the nose direction than the ears. Except, you would do the opposite, more towards the ears to make them look wider.

Mascara, always helps.

Eyeshadow, works best with a color that compliments, is the same as, or accents your eye color. Again, your towards the top of the lid, and the ear to make your eyes look taller and wider.

Heh, you could always wear magnifying glasses over your eyes, except you wouldn't be able to see.

White eyeliner on the inner rims of your eyes, and then a dark pencil around the outer edges will let your eyes stand out more and look bolder, giving you the illusion of having big eyes :]

Draw a line all around them with a Black eyeliner pencil. Use Black mascara. Use a Brown eyebrow pencil. Use a dark eyeshadow color. All of that will really make your eyes stand out!

Put a light eyeshadow on the inner corner of your top eyelids, and a darker shadow on the outside with a slight swoop. Finish off with mascara!
