It's about a girl who lives with her grandfather in the mountains and she gets sent to an all girls' school. A war breaks out and soldiers take over the school and she is sent to a type of orphanage where they make soap. She excapes with a few other girls and has to climb a mountain pass to get back to her grandfather. The man from the orphanage chases the girls into the mountains. Her friend ends up coming to try and find her and saves her and the other girls. All of the girls are around 14-17 years old and the movie is from the last 15 years or so.

It sounded a little like "Heidi," but that's older. When I added that to the search string, it yielded "Courage Mountain." Plot sounds very similar. Is that what you were looking for?
