To be honest they should of never raised the minimum wage to begin with. Minimum wages hurt business owners and the consumer. If this goes into effect, not only will it DECREASE the amount of jobs that are out there, it will put alot of small businesses out of business, and in turn increase the prices of goods. Why should the government tell the private sector the minumum they have to pay a person? Look at the unemployment rates over in France and the UK, over 30%.....why? Socialism. Minimum wages, national healthcare etc.

There should be no minimum wage at all. A lot of kids I work with will loose their jobs now, because hardly anyone will pay a juvie 7 an hour to start. They will not take the chance on them when wages start going up.

This is just another step towards communism.

I feel that my pay has just been lowered by $2
I only make $14.50 an hour to work with juvenile offenders. I guess I shouldn't have gotten a degree in education.
Most illegals around here in Phoenix make $10. Maids in high end homes here that speak Spanish make $10 and so do dry wall guys.

For heaven sakes!

All raising the minimum wage does is increase inflation! You pay more for basic goods and etc etc etc. We should look at the people who are getting min wage. Most people in fastfood or convience stores get paid more than that and if they don't and have to support a family then they are most likely already on public assistance. So when you raise min wage, then the price of groceries goes up and the whole system rights it's self so eventually $7.25 an hour buys the same amount of groceries that $5.25 did.

I believe minimum wage should allow for an acceptable standard of living. A household with two people working at minimum wage 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year will bring in just over 30,000, while the average income in America is nearer to 45,000. I believe minimum wage should be higher. But should Democrats have actually gone higher. I suspect no, because more than doubling minimum wage in less than 5 years would be a great shock to corporations.

Geez no, that would make small business have to fold. We all know there are people out there that aren't worth $5 per hour, just plain lazy. Do you realize when you own a business if you are paying a man $10 per hour he is in reality costing you $20 per hour. The employer has to pay insurance, workers comp and match his with holding. It would make for way less jobs because the smaller guys would not be able to start a business and pay those kind of wages. Most people have the mind set that the guy that owns the business is making mega bucks. In reality he may be just hanging on by a straw and he is doing a service just by giving someone a job.

Until you've tried to raise a family on minimum wage, I'd really rather not hear you complain. The democrats did the right thing by raising minimum wage. I do have a college degree now and earn much more than that but I've also walked a mile in their shoes.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone in this country made a minimum of $15.00 and hour?! But remember, when the employees are given a minimum wage hike, the customer ends up paying more for products and goods. Its a Catch-22.

Minimum wage is for jobs that require no education and little skill. It's the minimum pay for the minimum skill. Most work weeks are 40 hour work weeks and the yearly amount would be under $14,000. High school students, or those of equal education level and skill don't deserve more!

If you're talking about $15/hr, then you're comparing that minimum wage should equal that of a salary of more than $28,000/year.

Do you see what you're saying? Those who should earn more than the minimum wage and earn a salary of those entry-level and college-graduate salaries (usually earn b'twn $24-$26) comes with time and experience.

$15/hr for minimum wage. Are you serious?

Why should someone without a highschool diploma be making $15.00? Do you REALLY want a gallon of milk to cost $10? Inflation is bad, but it's not that bad.

If I have my BA and earn the same amount as a high school drop out, that seems like a slam in the face. Why even go to college at that point?

We live in a free enterprise system. Wages should be determined by the market place. Most people pay more than the minimum wage anyway so what is the point. Its politics and thats all
