Mulholland drive. Exit the 170 Hollywood freeway at Mulholland. Head west. There is a small park about a couple of miles in with a view of Universal City, Burbank, and points east. Stay on Mulholland and you'll be treated to views of the entire San Fernando Valley on one side, the Los Angeles Basin on the other, and, further up Mulholland (in the Calabasas area where I reside), views of Malibu and the Pacific Ocean. There are parts that are dirt-road near the Topanga Canyon areas, but they have awesome views for the adventurous. Be sure to get a map - and be safe up there!
