Last night we lost a basketball game and our coach was mad. Some of the girls fouled a lot and he decided to demonstrate how they were fouling. He pushed two of the girls (one who had surgery on her nose and couldn't play) and then he KICKED another girl (a starter). Do you think that this is very inappropriate? We all do and those girls are thinking about quitting. Also, half the team wants to quit b/c of him. I was thinking about quitting at the end of the season but this makes me want to quit now. Their parents are probably going to tell the principal or vice principal and maybe he'll get fired. He didn't apoligize about it today. Don't you think this really out of line or are we overreacting?

he was completely out of line. you could sue him for that you know.
but if you don't want to take such drastic action, you could do something simpler.

you could either quit the team, or a much better option would be to get everyone (try and get at least 200 people to truly make an impact) to sign a petition requesting to have him fired or transferred. you could have several people at different locations (eg supermarkets, local parks, gym's etc) getting people to sign the petition. when you feel you have enough signatures, present it to the school principal or the school board.

there is no way he would win against that.

good luck :)

This is very wrong...

Don't quit though, talk to the principal or the counselor at your school. Whatever you do, DON'T QUIT. If this is something that you all love to do, then he should get fired, you should not have to quit for his wrong actions. Talk to someone and don't just walk away from the situation completely by quitting. Also, if no one confronts the coach, everyone just walks away, then he might try it again somewhere. Someone needs to confront the coach, preferably parents, the principal or a responsible adult. Don't blow off at the coach, you might get in major trouble...

WIth what happened, the girls that had that done to, should go to the principal and make some sort of a report. They would need witnesses and there all the other girls come in and he will be fired. Do that ASAP. Good Luck

Don't give up on something you want because of a disrespecting and inappropriate coach. When a situation like that occurs, report him! Take a stand and don't be intimidated by him. Don't give in and make him satisfied about pushing people around.

well, the issue is really getting out of hand, kick a girl, if i were the father of that girl( and I'm just 16 years old) i would broken his knees, that's illegal, you are in all your rights to quit right now, kick girls!!!! who does he think he is? God? we are humans we can't win all the times because we are not perfect, he must be ashmed for make a girl cry, and if he were a good coah, he will make you train for the next season, even in the army they don't do that

I think this was pretty out of line. A coach of the school ( or anywhere) does not have the right to physically discipline a student. It was outlawed in schools about 20 years ago I think.

i think it is totally out of line. no adult should ever kick or push a student...espcially a coach....they are meant to set examples....i think both your parents and the team should go see the principal he should really get fired or one of the kids parents could sue him!

The coach sounds way out of line. If I was one of the girls that he hurt, I would sue him & get him fired.

Report him..and do it quick..thats very wrong behavior for a coach and the fact he is "abusing" girls..report him now..dont just quit, before he really hurts someone

I'd say report him. What he did, whether in the guise of coaching or not, is considered assault, and he can be discharged from work and charged in court for doing it, assuming the victims and witnesses are willing to testify in court.
