Amen! Some kids are just plain UGLY!!! It does'nt matter what color. I have an adopted cousin; (red head) she was so ugly as a baby that my aunt used to stick her face in a bowl of dough and make troll house cookies!

I think it's because up until recently there weren't that many biracial babies around. So something that is rare is often considered beautiful. I can remember being a child and being so jealous of this one girl because she had dark hair like me, but then she had these amazing blue eyes that were a shock to see on her face. (This was before tinted contacts.) I was jealous, but I didn't want blue eyes. I just wanted to be as rare as her.
I think the other thing unfortunately is internalized racism that goes all the way back to when the color of a kid's skin determined whether they would work inside or outside. I've had black coworkers obsess over "I hope my baby has good hair" while pregnant. Or they'll hope that their baby doesn't inherit the flatter nose. The idea of beauty is so skewed thanks to years of people saying that only certain specific features are beautiful.
So yeah. I think the whole thing is crazy. But I'm one of those people who thinks every baby is so adorable, including the ones that look like Mr. Potato Head to their own mother. :)

We like exotic? Think about it - ever see a car on the road with a color you have never seen before. First thing you say it how pretty it is. We see white people and black people every day but not as many biracials so being less of you your features stand out as pretty

Thank You for asking that question. My cousin, who is light skinned had a baby by a guy(his father is biracial I think) Well she brought the baby over my grandma's house and my grandma said "this is just about the prettiest baby you will ever see. Well I saw the kid, she was cute( like just about every baby) but definately not the cutest I have ever seen. Light does not always equal cute, I don't know why people think that way. Dark is just a beautiful.

Because people assume that being mixed/biracial means you have the benefit of escaping the stereotypical "undesirable" traits of either group with genes from the other group.

Alot is because like people said above, they look exotic and have more unique features. And I think alot of people define that as being beautiful. I think there are beautiful babies that are mixed with mostly one race. But I know, alot of people with give more attention the mixed baby.

I know everyone won't agree with me but I think the Black culture, generally speaking, values light skin and smooth, silky hair that often times comes with being biracial (usually black and another race) as being the most beautiful. White people have for years told Blacks that dark, chocolate skin and nappy hair is ugly, and we as Blacks have taken these views into our subconscious and believe that. We want to please the white man because we are insecure and they think that whatever looks more like them is less threatening.

I think it's the milk chocolate complexion combined with the wavy hair and lighter eyes. Also because they are different. I went to college with a guy who was bi-racial and he was dark except for light blue eyes. Of course he was very popular.
