This invloves SLOPE: in standard equation form, why can't A be negative?

B represents the y intecept and A is the slope. You can have a negative slope, but to have -ax+b would mean to take the opposite of a. For example, your equation is y = -ax+b where a = -2 and b= 6. Your slope would be 2.
