AS per the last answer, NO would be completely correct. This is an archaic form of Blacking Out games, that IS prevalent in the NFL, should a game not be sold out. Bill Wirtz, the archaic owner with deep pockets if very old school. It has always been his way or the highway.

He could change the policy in a heart beat, as it's a Blackhawk policy, not a league one. But he won't. He has the notion that if his team were televised when playing at home, no-one would go. Perhaps he should check the standings for an explanation to his attendance issues.

is this hawknut, bashing wirtz again?

They are the only nhl team that does not televise home games. But this year, the deal with comcast is they WILL broadcast EVERY home game IF the hawks make the playoffs. And that does not look to good right now.

Nope, but the Buffalo Bills football team does because Ralph Wilson is an old bassturd. Take heart, though, the game the Blackhawks played in tonight was seven kinds of boring, and they lost anyway.

AFAIK, Chicago is the only team that does this.
I have a different problem, living in the Philly market - because I don't want to pay Comca$t cable'$ ran$om (I subscribe to the Dish Network), I don't see most Flyers games anymore. Comca$t doesn't sell its Comca$t $port$net to the Dish or DirecTV, and the courts won't make them do it, which is a crock!

Some markets will have "blackouts" to games that are not sold out to try and get more fans out to the game. If enough fans go to the game they will then televise it. Hint to owners: lower ticket prices so the average fan can go to the game and you will sell out every game. You will then make more money from apparel, beer, food etc. and you will have a stronger and more loyal fan base. If you only appeal to the "suits" that are there to make a sale and could care less about the game you help no one.

I can pick them up on the DirecTV Center Ice Package w/o issue. Granted it usually is the visitor's broadcast. I don't know if said games would be blacked out in the Chicago market or not.
