So many people are very self centered. Could you go an entire day without referring to yourself in any way? Besides being an exercise in thinking of others before ones self, it would also be an exercise in conversational skills, I think.

If you could do it, what phrases which are "you based"(meaning, centered on the other person) would you use?

That's a great thought. It would be very cool, yet VERY difficult to try this. Maybe I'll give it a try.
My "you-based" questions would be questions about how the other person is feeling, how their day has been, what they're doing later...
Many people respond to these questions by asking the original asker the same question; like:
-"How was your day?"
-"Great! How was yours?"
I'm going to go crazy if I keep trying to think about this. Again, it's a very cool thought. Good luck!

No....To much conversation is based on ones self. Like "I'm doing good today" is usaully one of the first things you say when stricking a conversation because the other person is prob. going to ask you how you are doing. WOuld just be too hard

Every one of us is motivated by personal needs. Not one thing we do exists outside of our own needs. For example when we are the attentative ear to someone else in need it is us forfilling the need to be a good friend. When we donate to a charity is our need to be socially responsible for problems society has deemed an issue. Every action we make reflects ourselves even when it seems like its selfless. So given this idea how could we not refer to ourselves in everything that we do, including putting someone else first conversely?

It would be fun to try!!! But I don't think I could because in addition to being self-centered, people usually want to know about others and inevitably, someone would ask me something about myself.

No. The entire thing around me happens in relation to me only. How can I exclude me from that. I can restraint my involvement to some extent. But If I exclude myself fully then I am not in it as myself but as a third person witnessing only.

That is such a good question. An interesting experiment to run tomorrow. Lets see who can achieve this or get close.
(Not referred to self once, it was hard though).

Your date most likely cares more about them self than you anyways so if you focus on your date you will definitely get a second as long as you are smooth.
