I have worked in Supported housing for 15 years and in the last 3 years i have effectively been shut out and employment agencies Such as Reed have pulled my CV. I reached positions of senior managemnt within companies as Centrepoint and Carr - Gom, but because of a enhanced CRB with convictions over 11 years and a Muslim sounding name i have become personae non gratia, Born and bred british i am disgusted with a field i have worked in for so long who percieve themselves as Social and liberal and who provide housing for the homeless. And then politicians, public alike turn round and insinuate that we as black people have no ambitions in seeking gainful emloyment. I have an abundance of experience and shall continue to look for work, but i pity a nation who would look on my colour rather than the content of my character.

Enhanced CRB checks should not provide any details of non-sexual and non-violent cautions or spent convictions (those over six years old)

Unfortunately, if you have even one caution or conviction for a sexual or violent offence, even over ten years ago, you are likely to be rejected for any position where you might have responsibility for, or private access to, women or children in particular

We live in a Society paranoid of child abuse and the rape of women. These things are terrible, but they are very rarely carried out by employees. However, most employers now fear being sued for failing to reject potential abusers, so they therefore err on the side of caution and usually will not risk taking on anyone with physical or sexual cautions or convictions of any kind

Alas, the protection of the many often hinders the freedom of the few and many ethnic men, particularly black men from poorer areas, by reason of their culture and upbringing, will have cautions and convictions of one kind or another
