i have come across a nice collection of antique decoys for free and was wondering if anyone might know a real world price on them or an online guide i could use. They are general fibre company paper matchee mallard decoys. All are in excellent shape. A book i was reading valued them between 125 and 175 per duck. But last time i checked books dont buy decoys. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wooden decoy ducks are far more valuable but depending on the age and maker (is there a hallmark?) they could be valuable.

Condition is ALWAYS VERY important when talking about decoy ducks. Is the paint still bright or intact? Can you tell what kind of ducks they were made to attract?

All these factor into the value. If they are in fair to poor condition, I would say about $10 to $40 each. If they are in excellent condition probably around what you mentioned if they are indeed antique. There are LOADS of reproductions as the market is hot for decoys... Especially hand painted wooden ones as the paper mache ones were primarily used as store casts to advertise the real deal... The paper one's cannot be used in water so don't try!

I agree with Paperverso. But a good place to find out about them, might be a sporting goods store that supplies hunters. Not a department store type, but a real one that sells all the things, that duck and fowl hunters use .I don't know where you are but there usually one in every town/city,that can help.

These could be extremely valuable. I have seen old wooden decoys, scarred, no paint, sell for over $100 each on ebay.
