I can't open this antique box from Japan. And I don't want to get a locksmith.HELP!

Is it brass or copper just drill out were the key hole is you can always get a new lock after its open or use a dremell

Is it the lock or the top/hinge which is preventing you from opening it?

try a screwdriver to unscrew the hinges. other than that, unless you have the key (duh!), you'll need a locksmith. after all, that's what locks are for: making sure that box can't open.
