It's similar to an addiction. All things that makes us feel pleasant causes different levels of dopamine released in our brain. Dopamine is a drug or chemical compound similar to heroine (highly addictive) which causes pleasant feelings when triggered to react in the receptors in our brain cells. This the only way I can explain it. Good enough, yes?

Because we are so rarely present to enjoy anything. At dinner, we are looking forward to dessert (I never get this spelling right - I'm talking the sweet sort, not the sandy sort). At the movie, we're looking forward to the bowling we're doing the next day, during a date we're thinking about...well, you get the idea.

If we can be fully present to enjoy the experiences we are having, and then not be attached to those moments passing I think we're almost there.

You may want to look into low dopamine levels. When you "feel good" your brain realeases dopamine into your system. People with low dopamine levels crave this feeling and are normally have problems with every addiction from gambling to drugs to sex. These people are known to have adddictive personalities.

Why does a dog l**k himself, because he can. We love pleasure. Why is the sex industry a billion dollar business? We can't get enough.

Once you experience that feeling you either want it to continue or want to experience it again. Think about it, is there anyone who WOULD NOT like to experience happiness and joy continuously in their life?
