About a year and a half ago, I was going through a rough patch in my life. I was stressed and becoming depressed. One day I was talking to a friend, and he basically told me I needed psychiatric help. He then quit talking to me . . . until about a week ago. He called out of the blue and left a message on my voice mail wanting me to go get coffee with him. His tone sounded like nothing ever happened and we had just chatted the day before. Should I suck up my pride and go get coffee with him or should I tell him to drop dead like I've been wanting to for a year and a half?

I tried to keep in touch with him for 6 months after that and then finally gave up.

if he was a true friend, he would have told you to seek God...and then rremained by your side to help carry your burdens. that is what a real friend would have done.......so, be the bigger person and tell him, thanks, but no thanks...you have moved on in your life and are happy the way things are, wish him the best in his life, then simply hang up the phone.......GOD BLESS

What do you have to lose besides maybe an hour of your time by going for coffee with him? If it becomes too much, you could always find out why he withdrew contact for so long, but right now, without giving him a chance, how will you ever know what he wanted? Oops... It appears I've answered your question with another question.

Go out for coffee with your friend. You never know what he was going through. Did you call him during this time - it takes two to keep friendship alive. Maybe he is hurting because you haven't call him.
Good luck. Open your heart.

Tell him to drop dead. Or tell him nothing. Leave him hanging like he left you. This is a "FRIEND"? Lord, what do your enemies do to you? Friends are supposed to be there for you.

I think you should go have coffee with him first to see what he has to say to you, Then let him know what you felt like when he acted and said what he did.

Explain to him that he wasn't there for you when you needed him. He may have a good explanation. Some people aren't emotionally equipped to deal with other's problems. Tell him what you feel, then tell him to screw if you still feel the need.

go have coffee so he can see how well you are doing now and what he lost out on by leaving you when you obviously needed a friend
