On November 26, 1999, I had a stroke and a a cerebral hemmorhedge. I'm smart and funny. However, it takes me a little longer to lern and have a slight vision impairment. I'm tired of taking term positions in my area and having to take tests THEN an interview. In some job interviews I tell them about my brain injury, and I don't get a phone call after, when I don't tell them, they accuse my of hiding the truth. I'm not sure what to do. This is a fairly small town (about 19,000) and am discouraged and frustrated. And yes, tired.
Why can't I be hired for me and not my disability? Where should I go to talk about this? And figure out my life...?

I can totally relate to your question. I have a very similar situation myself. I was born with a hemangioma (broken blood vessel) on my brainstem. I have had three brain surgeries to correct this and I have facial paralysis and some moderate visual impairments as a result. I usually use a glare protector and adjust the font at a computer. My disability is really not all that visible to most people. It also doesn't really affect my work abilities very much, but it seems I scare off so many potential employers just by mentioning it! I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

I'm currently applying for a job that I REALLY want. I have not mentioned my disability yet, and I'm planning to mention it after they hire me (if they hire me.) I really liked this job interview process because there were two phone interviews as well as a project that I had to complete. I thought this was a really progressive way of narrowing down potential candidates.

Have you tried contacting your local Vocational Rehabilitation agency? I contacted mine last year and they helped me out some. They were able to provide me with some resources for people with visual disabilities as well as places to call in the event of discrimination.

Another great resource to try is the Monster.com Workers with Disabilities message board. It's so hard to find other people who have similar problems to us and this is a good place to start. I've gotten some very good advice here: http://community.monster.com/Forums/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=69

There should be a private or government organization that already has employers that can offer jobs of all types to people who are disabled. They would test you, know your abilities and your weaknesses and could assist you in finding a job. Do a search in your area on placement agencies for the disabled. Call your local library and see if they have a listing. Ask your local health department or maybe even your doctor or hospital, they may have some connections to agencies that can help their patients.

From what I really have study, so a concepts discrimination with regards to veterans of the Iraq warfare isn't allowed. Sony company placed out something lately . yet, regulation enforcement involves alot of grueling preparation, actual and psychological paintings. If the medical doctors say he's high-quality i might want to assert attempt. If u have issues then flow on your protection rigidity human beings and/or Congressman. it is new floor and for my section he's a hero. completely able with medical clearance to do in spite of he choses. shall we use some solid human beings on our police forces. Many are going out of control ie: l. a. and Florida we hear each day of something... solid success.

Well,I am truly sorry that you have to go through such a rough ordeal just to get a job. I think they should hire you, even if you have a disability, other wise they are being biased.

If you are physically and mentally able to do the job then I see no reason not to hire you. Maybe you should contact a lawyer, you might be able to file a lawsuit if you are not getting hired.

Contact your State Department of Rehabilitation. They can evaluate you, pair you with a job coach, and place you with an employer who is sympathetic to your problem.
