I remember A&W drive in restuarant, they had frosty mugs for the root beer
and there was a Buger Chef that had a great Big Chef burger, kind of like a big mac. the special sauce was thousand island dressing, yum.

there were some locally owned burger stands here too,

Mcdonalds & A& W were in the 60's
They had some good family places to eat too. But in the 60's Mom stayed home, made dinner for family.

McDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts, wendy's, domino's and KFC all started in the 1950's, some defunct chains include Burger Chef, Druther's (today some of these are Dairy Queens), Pup N Taco, Red Barn, and Sandy's Drive In (bought out by Hardee's). ( all of the defunct chains started in the 50's or 60's)

A&W Rootbeer Stands were very popular in the late 50s and early 60s. They served hamburgers, chili dogs, soda pop, much like they still do today. ;)
