I don't think it would be much different. The Puritans were primarily in the Northeast, like Massachusetts other areas like the south were non-puritan. For an example they celebrated Christmas in Virginia but not in Massachusetts because the Puritans felt it had pagan roots. If the Puritans had such an historic effect on morals it would stand to reason that Massachusetts would be the most conservative state and the South probably much more liberal. Obviously that's not the case. The Jamestown colony in Virginia had already been here for some time before the Pilgrims and came so its not like there would be no America if the Puritans hadn't felt the need to leave England.

We probably would have had playboy magazines years sooner. Vulger language would probalby be not as "vulgar", and maybe we'd have gay marriage by now. probably would even have less religious indifference because not as many groups of people would be offended by "moral stances" takin by the protestant church.
