Bush just threatened Iran in his big speech on Iraq and admitted what I've been telling you all for months...there are naval deployments directed specifically at Iran in the Persian Gulf right now.

Israel denied that it has plans to nuke Iran last weekend.

Bush is sending in troops to take out Iran's private army in Iraq.

Threatening Iran and Syria is not a smart move, and so is the deployment of a carrier force in the Persian Gulf. Such threats will only increase the tension and would yield negative effects. It will only strengthen Iran's resolve to possess nuclear weapons more than ever. For, any responsible leader of whatever country will do the same when faced with such threats.

Diplomacy should have been pursued with Iran and Syria from the start. These two countries are vital to the peace and security in the region. At the height of the Cold War, America and Russia successfully avoided a direct confrontation that would have triggered an all-out war through diplomatic means. Instead of following the same approach, Bush decided on actions that threatened and further alienated these two countries. Such policy only created hot-spots like North Korea. Syria and Iran already indicated their willingness for an open dialogue with the U.S., if only the U.S. wishes to talk to them. So far, Bush continue to ignore this approach and chose to do things his own way.

After watching Bush's address and reveiwing the Democratic response, this whole matter is very disheartening and quite frankly it scares the bejeezus out of me. Threatening Iran and Syria when we can't even get a stronghold in Iraq was a ballsy move. Sending more trooops isn't gonna change ANYTHING! I do agree, withdrawing completely now would be catastrophic, but I think our troops need to be deployed home in a course of six months to a year.

We have held Iraq's hand long enough. It's time they step up instead of relying so heavily our assistance. By sending more troops, we are sending more of our men and women to be slaughtered for what? If it's known where Al-Queda's headquarters as Bush stated, why in the hell have we not bombed the crap out of them already?

Bush and his incompetence and stalling and hem-hawing around is going to bankrupt this country, and a very hefty price to be paid in even more lives lost. I am proud of our troops and they have done thier job to the best of thier capablity, but this is an outrage. Bush admitted mistakes have been made, and by provoking Iran and Syria isn't the answer. Scary indeed!

He admitted that he would target the networks of those supplying material aid to insurgents. He is not proposing a broad invasion.

I don't see any alternative. This is not Vietnam. We won't be having feel good stories of the desert Hanoi is joining the WTO. Withdrawing now would create a power vacuum that will invariably be filled by people hostile to the US. I am highly concerned over the ramifications of Saudi Arabia going toe to toe with Iran in Iraq, with Erdogan in Ankarra moving away from the West as well. The consequences would be disastrous politically, for our long-term stability and for the security of the world's second most important resource (behind potable water).
We do not have good choices here.

Aww but rest assured my friend, Iran is not so stupid, they are not so stupid as we think they are, been reading into Iran, there are intelligent people out there in the Middle East don't you think that they've awaited the diagnosis on this problem too, awaiting to see what kind of fix Mr. Bush is going to bring about. That was already estimated that troops were going out. Gosh Bush is laughing his head off tonight, lol, thinking how he has duped everyone, the troops have already been sent off, what are you to do now?

WW3 is here. it started Sept ll a number of years ago. Our liberal news people are not telling us, the public enough Of the DANGER of the Jihad being waged against us. Most of the western world DOES NOT understand how the east thinks. I am a dumb old lady, but I can read between the lines. What is wrong with our politicians. The same thing back during the WW2 when Hitler was dong what he did. Enough is enough. I get so tired of people thinking wishy washy. Not patriotilc. Not for us. like ostrichs.

Yes, this not toilet trained fool thinks he knows what he is doing. He has already made a mistake by going into Iraq to try to impress the world. Now he is talking about total destruction for himself, his party and possibly the U.S. in Iraq. We need to mind our business and let the people of that area take care of themselves. We also need to stay away from Korea and let those that are directly threatened by North Korea take action. We have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world several times over, so what are we worried about. Certainly we would not want to use those weapons against anyone, but in case any nation wants to make the same mistake that Japan made, then that nation would meet its own destiny.

Would you like him to just pull all troops out tommorow? That would cause mass hysteria in all countries. Look...we are in this now and we have to get it better before we can get out. What you have to remember is that BUSH is not the only one who approved this war...almost everyone did years ago and that includes congress. YES we are headed to a world war but read your Bible as it is all coming to an end soon.

You know what I think? I think you don't know what the situation on the ground is in Iraq, and therefore can't make an informed call on the situation. Unless you're a member of the joint chiefs, you can't say 'That's a stupid plan' without you yourself appearing ignorant and imbecilic.
