Just asking cause my parents are flipping out over it!

It's only dangerous if you are stupid enough to use it to meet people you don't know. Ignore people who you don't know, and you will have nothing to worry about.
If you only use it to chat with your friends and people you know in person, there is absolutely no danger whatsoever.
My parents freaked out once they found out I was using it, but I showed them that I only use it to talk to my own friends so I am safe.
I find it interesting that your parents thing myspace is dangerous but they let you post things here. Yahoo is not any different fom myspace when it comes to "danger" from other people.

not myspace that's dangerous. it's the pervs. and the stupid young girls.
thing is young girls want to be wanted. so they put revealing photos up. and then they give enough info for any jackazz to put two and two together. and next thing you know.... some will go even farther and actually develop a "relationship" with an unknown, eventually agreeing to meet! not to be done. because there is a photo on their page does not mean it's them.
just be careful.

only if you let it be!!! if you give out TOO much personal information then it can become dangerous, but not in ALL cases. and you have the choice to make your profile private and not allow people that you dont personaly know on your friends list or to even veiw your page. it is safe, unless YOU make it otherwise.

It could be if you treat the site irresponsibly and meet people without a friend along. Let your parents monitor your site, and let them see that you are not engaging in irresponsible and irrational behaviors.

I use it and I don't think it's dangerous unless you put in really personal information about yourself like your home adress and your phone number.
If you don't put those details in I think your pretty safe.

just dont meet people in person that you really dont know unless you have backup
a friend, family member, etc
no because its a great chance to meet and negotiate with new people or people you have been knowing from school, etc

Don't put personal information on it and you should be fine...tell your parents what you're doing (specifically) and they'll stop being afraid.
