NO! That is stupid. My girlfriend lost her big to on her right foot. She is fine.

Yes it is true that when you loose your big toe you also loose some of your balance. My father slipped under the push-lawnmower and clipped off his big toe and he lost some of his balance, BUT you still have 4 other toes that also help you balance.

I don't know about the whole balance thing, but there is one thing for sure... you will no longer be able to wear flip-flops!!!
