Well, for one, there is the idea, which comes with the thong, that you are purchasing something that means you're sexy, scandilous, etc... This image has developed over time for several reasons-
1- often when you see people in underwear, online or on TV, they're wearing thongs, so if a guy sees a chick in a thong, he might associate it with that, or another image of a women in a thong (a stripper, a vicky's secret model)
2- thongs really are sexier, by the ideology. They show more skin, and they often are lacier, cuter and tighter than other underwear.
3- I don't have another reason, but it's a secret many guys might not know- thongs are actually comfortable. *ssshhh*

Although thongs do leave less to the imagination than full-butted underwear, they are normally made with finer details like lace and rhinestones, charms and such, which make them more appealing.

Let's face it; the more "woman" a guy sees- the more he thinks they're sexy. Why do you think guys like bikinis so much?! :)
