dont you think it would be a huge blunder by the Democratic congress to deny American forces funding while they are in the field, no congress has done this before. I mean for the troops involved in the surge, Bush should call their bluff and send them anyway.

I would like to see them cut funding for our troops. This would expose them for the troop haters they really are. They would punish our boys by taking away their armor, simply for their politics.

What is it with the "surge"? The sugar-coated rhetoric is so infuriating! The president is sending more sons, daughters, husbands, and wives, to Iraq. Just say it - it's an increase in troop number! The administration has grasped on to this euphemism and will ride it as long as they can. Please, someone call them on it!

As for the funding denial - a FEW democrats said they would CONSIDER it. It's not even a bluff, because it was never sincerely proposed. And if for some reason it did happen, the president would be equally if not more responsible for the consequences. He's unilaterally increasing troop number in blatant defiance of the advice of military advisers, study groups, the opinion of his sister branch of government, the opinion of the American people, and common sense. And he's doing so knowing full well that the funding may not be there. I can't wait until 2008!

It will be a little hard for them to keep saying "they support the troops but not the war" - if they do that. It will show a total lack of concern for the troops on the ground.
Weren't these the same people that gripped about the lack of funding for body armor?

Don't see it happening - for all the bluster of this Congress, the American people aren't going to let the troops overseas under funded . Right now it is posturing but when the voting comes due - no Congressperson wants labeled as "anti-soldier" .

It would be a huge blunder, but they're not going to deny funding for troops in the field. What they should do however, is to deny funding for any kind of escalation.

No, it would not be a blunder. It would be the action the majority of Americans voted them into office to perform.

That would be disastrous and will leave our troops "hanging out to dry." Our troops need all of our support.

He will if necessary. It's just more grandstanding by the Democrats that have no ideal and couldn't care less about the damage they are doing to America and the world. If they would just stop and think...!

I think you need to spend more time reading history, and less time posting divisive questions.
