If its a dial up modem you need to set the computer with the modem as a proxy server and share interenet service. Windows has a wizard for that.

If its broadband Cable/DSL service buy a router and a couple of network cards.

high speed modem= get a router and some patch cords if you already have ethernet cards in the computers. Linksys has a router for about $50 (us) that you can find at most computer stores.
if you still have (yawn) dial-up= get a linecord splitter from your local radio shack, plug a line cord into both ports then into both modem ports on the computers. the only downfall, one computer at a time online.

Your DSL provider comes over a telephone line. purely one modem could properly be online at a time on that telephone#, so there is no think approximately getting a 2d modem till you needed to order DSL provider on a diverse telephone line (and pay a month-to-month cost for that, too) in case you are able to desire to proportion your information superhighway connection between diverse desktops, you merely desire a router. It connects on your DSL modem, and your desktops plug into the router. presently maximum routers additionally help on the spot connections for laptops.
