4X - 6 = X +9
Bring 6 to the other side: 4X = X +15
Bring the X to the other side: 3X = 15
Divide each side by 3: X = 5
The answer is X=5

First you wannamove all the x's to one side and the numbers to the other side so your first step would look like this
4x-6=x+9
+6 +6
__________
4x=x+6+9
4x=x+6+9
-x -x
__________
4x-x=6+9
Notice that when you move all the numbers by subtracting or adding them you pretty much are like flipping them over. so if u have x on one side if u try to move it to the other side with would be negative.
next step is just to combine the like terms
so this 4x-x=6+9 would become 3x=15
Now that you have 3x=15 you want to again move the like terms to one side and keep the variables by themselves. The only difference this time is that since 3x is multiplication the only way to split it would be to divide by 3 on both sides . It would look like this after u do this
3x=15
__ __
3 3
Now u divide and u will get ur answer!
x=5
Oh and one more thing u dont have to do all the steps exactly as i listed earlier u could skip some steps in order to make it faster but i just did them so u can get a better understanding of it

You take the smaller x and minus it to the other x.
So 4x - 6 = x + 9 becomes
4x (-x) -6 = 9 <---see? the x is gone
Then 4x - x = 3x because x is like 1x. So it would be 4x-1x = 3x.
So, you will have 3x - 6 = 9
You then take 6 and add it to 9 because you want to make that 6 = 0. It's a negative, so you take the opposite which is positive 6.
So, 3x - 6 (+6) = 9.
The 6 cancels out. Now you have 3x = 15
15 divided by 3x = 5x. So x = 5! =) got it?

Remeber when you change sides the signs (positive, Negative) changes and * is times
1) Bring the x from the right to the left. Now it's 3x-6=9.
2) Bring the -6 from the left to the right because you want the variables on one side. 3x=15
3) Divide both sides by 3. Now it's x= 5
4) then check 4*5-6= 5+9 it comes out 14=14

You want to get all of your "x's" on one side of the equation and all of the numbers on the other.
1. subtract "x" from both sides.
2. add 6 to both sides.
4x - x = 9 + 6
3. Simplify
4. Divide both sides by the numeral in front of the "x" and it should be solved.

You need to get the x's on one side, so you can add six to both sides and subtract x from both sides to get 4x-x=9+6. Then just combine the terms to get 3x=15. You can solve the rest.

x=5 thats it!
to check: substitute x on the equation: it is both the same answer:
try it!
