Mugshots are confidential in nature but can be allowed if properly requested just media who publishes mugshots of high profile criminals.

You would have to check with your municipality, but I believe that mugshots are part of the public record (along with the arrest) and can be obtained through a records request. This is how famous people's mug shots get around.

I'm pretty sure that you can request an official copy of any photos, arrest reports, and other paperwork pertaining to an arrest/detention by contacting the precinct or district headquarters that you were brought to.

You may have to fill out paperwork (FOIA waiver) concerning the right to release it, so bring ID.

I think the law is the only organization able to obtain that information.
