One of my neighbors lost his home to foreclosure and the police came with a lock smith the bank hired to change the locks and found his body in his former living room with "another victim of capitalism" written on the wall. Do people try to measure their lives too much too social conformity/social standing. I have never meet a person who is down to earth and humble kill themselves. Most people I know who killed themselves over my lifetime (23) are social seeking yuppies who fail and end their lives over it....SAD!!! Why do people kill themselves? Your opinions I gave you mine.

I live in a certain place where the geography limits the living space (a small island). I never thought this would contribute to depression, then suicide, but it does. Also, the social conformity/social standing as you have said adds greatly to the problem of suicide. As I was not raised in this society, I am not under the same pressures. These are not social-seeking yuppies, they are families who cannot afford a big-ctiy standards of living, and have often got themselves way into debt. I often see the reports, and recently a whole family decided to end it all by jumping in the river. Sad? It's so sad that words cannot always describe the feelings, especially when I see the young girls who may have had a future among those who are no longer living.

It's because gay people have invaded my television...they created the type of person we call emo...emo people kill themselves.

No, I don't really believe that, but I thought it was an interesting thought path.

I guess people feel they have failed in live and have no reason to live...it's like, "oh, I lose, game over ." And they don't stop to think, hey, it's not game over...it's just life...and it should go on. And they could still make the best of their life in there situation, but they don't want to try because they are afraid they are failures. And I have gone on rambling way to much and nobody every reads these things past the first couple of lines...oh well.

Commiting suicide is normal. People do it to escape a messed up life that they can no longer live. 1/3 of people actually tend to seek help with thier problems but... 2/3 of the people refer to taking the easy way out of misery. The sad thing is that 2/3 of the people that commit suicide suicide are teens and the #1 reason for them commiting suicide is because of depression. The 2nd leading cause is because of alcohol. I think that its sad that people take their own lives because they could have easily gotten help and maybe later in their future they could have done something good for themselves or for someone else but the people that will really suffer would be the persons parents and family. Believe me NO ONE likes to bury thier child because for being a parent you throughout your life have always sacrificed the little things in life so that your child could succeed and do good in life and then to know why they did it is real heart breaking.

DEPRESSION. I would say that's the number one reason. It makes sense: Why would you want to live if you are not happy? Society could be the reason for their depression, but several other things cause it.

Lucky for you, you've never felt depressed. Depression is a serious issue. Just imagine if you had to live the rest of your life at home, with no contact to the outside world. You'd eventually become really sad, to the point where you don't want to live.

Wow, pretty sad of your neighbor.

Well, sometimes people get too many problems in which they try to resolve and resolve and they try and try many times, but the problems seem to never end; with so many things in mind and responsibilities that you have to take it's very stressful dealing with financial situations, family matters, debts situations and all that.
Then the best solution and answer for them is killing themselves, and they end up committing suicide; and it's kinda sad for the family and all that, but the life is a routine... whats life? getting up in the morning, take a shower, get dressed, have a quick breakfast, and run 20, 30 or 50 miles to your job on highways, work, deal with your problems at work, get out and then come to your home, have dinner and sleep... that's the common life!
I personally don't find any purpose to it, that's how the life is everyday and we can't find happiness, because of it.

But that was what God gave us, we have to deal with everything, and keep going on our lives...

Regards

I was hurt in an accident that killed my wife and little girl and my wife was pregnant. I was in such horrible pain for years with no pain pills, the doctor would nt give me anything that helped. it was so bad I couldn't leave the house. kept the rooms dark the light hurt.it went on and on and I just couldn't handle the pain and Begin sitting in my room with a 38 and putting a bullet in it in the dark and taking sometimes hours to pull the trigger praying to My God that if the pain wasn't going to go away some day to allow the bullet to go off and take me to heaven. I prayed very fervently.I did that six times.I lost my home to a disaster.but my mother told me to praise God for everything so I got on the ground at my lot and praised God. even though I truly didn't mean it. that time. but I did it again a year later and I just praise God for everything. I miss my family dearly and my home and things but I have the spirit of God with me. and I am still in pain. its not so bad as before.my parrot got out the other day. and I miss him so very much he loved me.I had no one but him and now hes gone. but wouldnt come out of the tree. I am crying now.I am depressed because I stayed with mother for nine months till the cancer went to her brain and killed her and I still cry a lot.I take a lot of medicine but it doesnt help a lot.I cut my wrist twice last year.deep. but here I am. I quess I really didnt wont to die are I would be dead.am bi polar. my doctor told me one third of bi polar people kill themselfs.Peace

Sometimes it can be the complete loneliness of losing someone that you love. This man that lost his house may have felt like a complete failure to his family.

There is usually some sort of complete loss associated with suicide. A big loss and feeling very alone in the world.

basically dont reduce too deep i think. Emo varieties probable reduce on the different fringe of the arm that has a lot of fat to guard it. those who slit their wrists would frequently have some severe complications through oxygen loss - complications like mind damage or severe lung and cardiac damage. Its not basically stay / die problem. So do not do it : )

Maybe you should read some of psychologist Arno Gruen's books. He has one called "The insanity of Normality".

You might find some interesting information on the internet if you Google Gruen's name as well. He basically theorises that many peole are driven to extreme self-hatred because they are not loved unconditionally. They are loved for what they are and what they do - their parents may not have truly accepted them. Anyway, it is an interesting read, if you can find it in English

I think people kill themselves because they don't understand or comprehend how final it is. They think "Oh, I'll do this and everyone will feel bad"...well okay, but they're not going to be around for the absolution. And other people kill themselves because they're truly convinced that they have it that bad and they don't bother themselves with how everyone else will feel. It's the ultimate act of selfishness.
