Which teachers are better to ask? How much of a time frame do you give to them to write the letter? Should I give him/her a thank you note afterwards?

It's a good idea to ask one humanities teacher and one/math science teacher. I would pick either a sophomore year or junior teacher, and pick a teacher who knows you well and one who's class you did well in. If the teacher was for an honors course, that's a plus. I would give them as much time as possible, if you're a junior now, ask them in June before school ends, to give them a heads up. If you're a senior now, you're screwed and better beg at their feet for one. A thank you note and a small gift would be nice.

the teachers which are better to ask are the ones that you can really communicate with and also connect your like with. i would give the teacher at least a week of a time frame cuz they have alot on their mind with their work. It would be recommended to give the teacher a thank you note for giving you their time and respect of writing that recommendation letter.

Oh i just went through all of this a couple months ago. Teachers that know you well are the best ones to ask. Ones that will write a well recocmendation, instead of getting a teacher that doesnt know you too well. Give them at least a month, they get so many requests for recs that plenty of time means a well written one. Yes give them a thank you note afterwards its proper ettiquette.

Teachers that know you well. Generally, English teachers are best. I would give them 1-2 weeks.
