It's impossible to get too much of a vitamin from food. The only vitamins that can be dangerous are vitamins A and D, and then it's only if you take massive overdoses daily over a period of months. Just forgetting and taking two of your one-a-day vitamins is completely harmless. Vitamins C and E seem to be harmless at any dosage.

Minerals such as iron and zinc should only be taken in the amount of the suggested daily value, but, again, food intake is perfectly safe, and an occasional extra dose is harmless. Just don't take massive amounts every day for a long time.

B vitamins are complicated. If, over time, you take large amounts of some of the vitamins in the B-Complex, you can create a deficiency in the other B vitamins. It is best to take a "Balanced B" where each part of the B-Complex is at 100% of the daily requirement rather than the out-of-balance kind where the pill has, for example, 50 mg of each; they are not needed in equal amounts.

I wouldn't do it on a regular basis. Water soluble vitamins are excreted.. some vitamins are fat soluble.. I believe E, D and A are fat soluble.. C and B vitamins are not..Look them up. Check the Berkeley Wellness Letter.
