It's not possible to do this. After listening to Bush's speech, i recall hearing a similar speech made by President Johnson in 1968 when he escalated the Vietnam War.
Unless America is prepared to put 600 thousand troops into iraq, we might as well forget about achieving any success there.

Very good question. It CANNOT be done. Bush is trying to make his own history, instead of looking to the past for clues of what to avoid. History tends to repeat itself, as well as the same mistakes. I think Congress needs to take steps to ensure that military personnel do not serve repeated tours of duty (some have already served 5) for extended periods of time (up to 18 months) We will be paying for the fallout for many years to come (PTSD) and worse.
