Put the equation like so:
x+3x = y+3y+7 ; using this formula going through each choice.
The answer is:
x = y + 7/4

PS please award best answer

Alright, let's break it down. x + 3x is easier to write as 4x, right? And so is y + 3y. So the question becomes If 4x is 7 more than 4y what is x-y? So how can we write this?

If we write it as an equation we can just solve it, so here's what I would do.

4x = 7 + 4y.

Now, this helps us a lot because we can now get the 7 alone and solve for it. So, subtract 4y from both sides and we get:

4x - 4y = 7.

Now we have a common digit on the left and can pull it out because it applies to both. This makes:

4(x - y) = 7

Divide both sides by four and you get.....[can't give you this part, you should be able to get it from here!]

Since x+3x is 7 more than y+3y x+3x+7=y+3y. You would then combine like terms and get 4x+7=4y. subtract 7 from both sides and get 4x=4y-7, then subtract 4y from both sides to get 4x-4y=-7, you would then divide both sides by 4, and your answer would be x-y=-7/4. This isn't one of the choices so I might have messed up somewhere, unless you typed the answers without the negative sign.

The answer is E.

The original condition: "x+3x is 7 more than y+3y" can be expressed like this:

y + 3y = x + 3x - 7

or

4y = 4x - 7

Subtract 4y from each side:

0 = 4x - 4y - 7

Add 7 to each side:

7 = 4x -4y

Divide each side by 4:

7/4 = x - y

Just simplify the given conditions.

condition 1;
x + 3x = 7
4x = 7
x = 7/4

Condition 2;
y + 3y = 0
4y = 0
y = 0/4 =0

condition 3;
x - y = ?

substitutes;
7/4 - 0 = ?

then;
7/4 = ?

I hope this solutions will help you. Don't get so frustrated just study harder and you'll be fine.

you need to know the value of x and y then if you can use a calculator then punch in x+3 times +7+y+3 time y and x minus y. its really simple after you get it well then ask your teacher for help

I don't want to tell you the answer, but I can help.

You can make the first equation (x+3x=7) equal to seven and the second equation (y+3y=0) equal to zero. Then you can solve for x and y and solve for the third equation (x-y=?)

I hope that helps. If it doesn't email me: mr_lump86@yahoo.com
