I am an ex-smoker (heh ex because i've quit for about 4 days)
I threw my ciggarette buts on the ground... the only place i refused to throw them on the ground at was the beach, if it was the beach i'd take my cig butts away and make everyone else do the same.
Lately ive been on a nature crusade picking up rubbish etc and i now see the error of my ways and am sorry, and no its not okay to do, its easy enough to carry something around and put them in there. If i do start smoking again, i'll get one of those little trays with lids to put them in.

I'm a smoker and I don't think that it is ok to throw the butts on the ground.

Another smoker and no I do not throw my butts on the ground, I keep them and put them in a 1litre bottle of water and use the water to spray aphids on my plants it actually works, the smell is pretty yuk thou at first. We have fines here as well but I have never actually seen them enforced. How about asking why do junkies leave their syringes laying around for innocent children to step on in the parks, school grounds, bus stops, access passages in malls isn't that more of an issue as well as illegal?

Because they think cigarettes do not cause cancer. So, if you're that careless with your life why not toss a few butts on the ground?

Because for hundreds of years we have been smoking and in the past ten or eleven decades.... we have been butting out in the great outdoors with no self righteous, and hypocritical pettiness to fend off. Now go get in your car and take your tin cans to the recycling dump yourself because you wouldn't believe how much of those reuse boxes end up in the public dump!
Just can't find good civil servants these days.
(do you know how much diesel fuel it takes to put your dinner into the grocery store for your convenience?)

I have been given a littering fine for doing just that so leave us alone and let us on with our silent suicide. I think it's ok because I don't care.

It's their own little thing. I saw a man do that from this truck. Blehh, his truck would've lit in fire in seconds. It's pretty much illegal, but i guess thats how they do it if they're too lazy to find a trash can.

its cotton, I think I mean there on fire what else do you do with them when your walking or whatever, its actually a lot safer that way with the fire and all, if your considerate enough you could put them out and carry alittle baggie around I guess but I dont see that happening and plenty of people throw pop cans and everything else on the ground cant you see it along the highway and streets everywhere

My ex once gave the excuse that "they are biodegradable". I have also heard the following excuses: "I don't care", "It's not littering", "everyone litters", "there are no trashcans", "I don't have time to find a trashcan", "this is easier", "I'm too lazy to find a trashcan" and "it's my yard, I can do what I want".
