I thought it was better and definitely more forthcoming than all of his previous speeches.

This is because there was nothing Bush could lie about this time or be delicate or indirect about.

There is a serious, indeed grave problem in Iraq and he had to come up with a specific strategy for success or at least progress in that war or else there would be no chance at all for Congress to approve of it.

I was impressed that he didn't stick to the platitudes he is so fond if as much as in his other speeches, mainly for the reason above, and that he explained his plans for the war in Iraq in much more specific terms than for any other proposal or acts he talked about in other speeches.

I give him an A for this speech, even if his "victory plan" turns out to be bogus.

I'm always left with the same question: How does a man who subverts his own constitution talk about spreading freedom and liberty to a country half way around the world? (I know you and I differ on that point so I won't go any further with it.)
I'm going to sleep on it and listen to it again in the morning. Like another answerer said, I want to believe him but what is going to be different this time.
Listened to it this morning. Freedom, liberty, just, justice, liberty, al qaida, 9/11, freedom, liberty, freedom. Seems his constant motivation is to keep us in a state of fear. Unfortunately he is the biggest threat to our freedoms. Ask your mail carrier how they feel about his subversion of the mail act to open your mail. I could go on. I understand a pullout would create a vacuum. I'm not that dense or that naive. It was good to hear him actually accept responsibility and to ask the Iraqi's to take more. I hope for our sake and the sake of the US soldiers that a year from now he is not introducing yet another plan.

Actually after hearing the details, and the Pledge of support from Al-Maliki to destroy or disarm the Mahdi Army, this re-energizes me about the situation in Iraq, either way we are going to be their for a long time.

While he was speaking I kept thinking, "I wish I could believe him." At the end, I still didn't.

It sounds like he wants to fight door to door, street by street. He is going to get a lot of people killed, both soldiers and civilians. It is not going to be good. In the end it will make no difference. A war is won by using good strategy, not by stubborn determination.

Made me sick to my stomach because he's the one who Orchestrated the Terror Attacks of 911. The man is a scumbag who needs to be removed and incarcerated. Period!
