Looking at a fixer-upper and the previous owners (foreclosure) tore it up.

Is it possible to fix these large (0.5" and less) gaps on both sides of two doorways?

I would think you would insulate then cover with plastic and frame it in with wood.

Not sure depending on which side, but at the apartment I used to live at, I filled the gaps on the bottom with a liner...I can't remember the name, but it's like vinyl filled with foam. You can find it on a lot of doorways.

Squeeze as much insulation in the cracks as you can.

Then caulk it as neatly as you can.

If this leaves it a little messy put a small trim piece around the frame.

Sure, you can use wood puddy (find the outdoor type if that is where the door is), or caulk. Most of which you can sand when it dries, then paint to match.

Weather stripping might do the job...
