Race or gender would not effect my decision. I would vote for the personI felt was most qualified.

Going with my gut reaction, I would have to say an African American. Only because I am skeptical that a female president would make decisions of the heart instead of reason. It all depends on who that woman is, doesn't it. But since the question is very general, I can only give a general answer.

(Everyone keeps answering as though it isn't obvious you would vote on issues. The point of the question is a general "gut reaction". If you only knew those 2 facts about the candidates, who would you vote for? I'd like to see some more real answers!)

I think England set the stage with Maggie Thatcher as Prime Minister and also the presence of a Queen. Not that I am a fan of either of them, but I'm not sure Americans are ready for an African American just yet. Obama just seems way too sweet and nice to be a President.

An African American woman

Whoever would do the best job. Voting for someone just becuase they are a certain sex or race would be a serious lack of judgement on the voters part. I feel the same for some one that votes for only members of their own political party. People should vote for who would do the best job.

It really is a much more complicated question than that. It depends so much on the qualities of those people, and the fact that they are black or a woman has no bearing on the decision. Yet, I get the impression that this question is based on Obama and Clinton, in which case I would vote for Obama.

It would depend on their views and credentials of course! I am thinking this next election will give us all the opportunity to make this decision, and this is going to be a very exciting time in our history as well since we have a very charismatic man and woman as possible future presidents!

The best person for the job. Don't matter about race or gender. As long as this person can do a WAY better job than the idiot we currently have, that is what counts for the country.

Depends on the person and what are we voting on them doing. Being president? Not quite sure what you meant.
