To improve your voice you should be doing exercises with your voice. If you have access to a piano/keyboard you can hit notes and match them with your voice, you could start at middle C and go up and then back down. For better breathe support make sure you are using your abdomen if you are not sure, while you are singing is your stomach tight, like someone is gonna hit you in the stomach, if so that is good. For better results get some voice lessons online or in your home town.

Do you sing low or high? Cause the song depends on that. You should get lots of vocal exercise to improve your range. Sing scales, etc.

Try "Cat & Mouse" or "Your Guardian Angel" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Your problem could be that you haven't found the right song... and remember to sing out, but don't over-do it... and those songs are beautiful (and low.)
