i have a vonage "surfboard"

no i mean connect the phone cable to a phone jack on both computers...i know theres a way i just dont know what it is

if you want to transfer files using rj-11 which is ur phone jack, then connect em up, both pc's must open up hyperterminal, 1 pc calls the other pc, once connected you can click on transfer -> send file, be sure to have both pc's connected with the same baud rate, paritiy checking , same flow control, etc.

if you are talking about just the phone cable, I don't know never tried it. if it has 4 conductors and you have RJ45 connectors and crimpers it "might" work. with out the shielding effect of the twisted pair data transmission would be far less than ideal.

In short....no, there's not. It's a different kind of jack. One is RJ-11 and the other is RJ-45. Go to Wal-Mart.
