I like the name sophia.. but the one thing i've realized is that the dad needs to have a say. When I first found out i was pregnant.. i was dead set on my favorite name.. Jayson. Which is a family name. I didnt care what anthony said.. and I was determined to get my way. But than when I was in the ultra sound with tony.. and i seen the way he looked at our baby, I realized he needed just as much say as I did. Plus this is just as much his baby as mine. Make sure you talk about it... and enjoy it! after i let my wall down and considered other names.. me and my 'babies daddy' spent a wonderful evening on the couch with frozen pizza.... and the "best baby" name book. He decided he'd consider jayson... and I am considering four other names. We decided TOGETHER... that we'd go into the hospital with our top five baby names... and when our little boy enters the world.. were going to spend sometime with him alone.. (no parents.. doctors.. nurses etc...) and pick a name... based on what he looks like.. Maybe he wont look like a Jayson or an Ayden... maybe he'll be a Blake.. or a Bob.. I DONT KNOW! awww... anyways my only advice is to work together.. it'll be a lot more fun... and you'll totaly bond! (its tough i know!....) Good luck....

My nearly 3 year old is named Sofia. My husband and I thought we were being very original when we picked it, but we've come to find out that it's been in the top 10 names (in something like 13 countries) for the last 4 years. In my daughter's daycare class of 15 students, there are 3 Sophias (various spellings). I love the name, but if you are looking for something unusual, you may want to choose something else.

Sophia is cute but my husband also really dislikes the name. Does he dislike "old fashioned" names or just Sophia?
Maybe you could find a compromise...
other ia names: Mia, Alexandria, Melania, Cecilia, Victoria
or the same ending sound: Maya, Tatiana, Aaliyah, Camilla, Eliana, Leala, Emma, Helena, Isabella, Clara, Ana
or the same style: Evelyn, Charlotte, Claire, Isabel, Elise, Eleanor, Grace
or the long o sound: Chloe, Zoey, Phoebe, Lola
Good Luck! I am sure you'll find a beautiful name you both love!
Take Care,
SD

It is pretty, but keep in mind that Sophia is one of the top 10 most common names for girls right now. Do you want her to have 2 other Sophia's in her Kindergarten class?

I like Sophia. From what I've been seeing on here lately it's getting ready to be a really popular name. But, if your husband hates it, I'd try to decide on a name you both like and use it for her middle name.

I think Sophia is very beautiful but you have to compromise with your husband and find a name that you both like.

I've only known three Sophia's in my life. A very nice old lady that used to work in our supply office. Sofia Loren. And the book "Sophie's Choice" In any case, you and your husband should agree on a name together.
