percentages are easy to work out if you follow a basic rule you can find any percentage of any given number, first of all find out what 1% of the number is by dividing it by ten and then by ten again, this will give you 1%, once you have that simply multiply your answer by the percentage you require, for example 3% of 7000 = 7000 divided by ten = 700 divided by ten = 70 = 1% multiplied by 3 = 210 = 3% of 7000

1. multiply 64 by 0.25
move your decimal point two places to the left on your percentage
4. multiply 90 by 0.005

First you set up a proportion (ignore the --- )

___part of number___ =____percent___
---------number---------------------- 100

and then cross multiply
part of number * 100 = number * percent
ex: x * 100 = 64.2 * 25
and solve


or like this
(part of number/number) = (percent/100)
(x/64.2) = (25/100)
and solve

1)is written like .25x64=12.8 for #4 it will be written.005x90 use a calculater it will be faster
