i saw the movie twice and i have my opinion but i want to know the real reason why couldn't they escape from silent hill.

I suggest you play the games, if you haven't already, because they will give you a better understanding of the 'Other world' scenario and the fog. There are 3 dimensions to SH ) 1) the shrouded fog world which Sharon, Dahlia and Rose are trapped in (Alessa called them for help and creating Sharon from her soul would inevitabley bring Rose to the fooggy town, wheras Thomas Gucci and Roses husband are still in 2) real world silent hill..becareful to observe this next time you watch the DVD)
3) The decaying otherworld which is what Alessas fear and hurt had created ergo that is where the creation of Dark Alessa comes from, tis a world not on earth, nor in hell, nor heaven.

I know I'm not going to get best answer on this cause it's not really an answer, I never really thought about it, but obviously they weren't in our world, I assumed they were stuck in theirs, but had no idea why, i'm surprised by how many people said they were dead, but maybe they were, but just because the mans wife is dead in the second doesn't mean much cause if they were in another dimension they would be dead to this world anyway, but I thought it was actually a man in the first silent hill game so i don't really see how the wife would be dead in the 2nd game. but anyway, great question. If they had died in the car crash though... the people in our dimension would just find them dead in their car.. so that's not a very good answer.

Contrary to popular belief, no, I don't believe they're dead.
Rose and Sharon (who really isn't Sharon anymore, but a "reincarnation" of Alessa) couldn't escape for one simple reason: Alessa didn't want them to leave. They are in still in Alessa's alternate dimension not because they're dead, but because rather than just going back to the real world (which essentially is full of people she doesn't trust), Alessa wants to keep her new mother, Rose, all to herself.
Just my opinion.

Because only the dark one opens the door to Silent Hill and choose that Rose and Sharron would stay in that "world" forever.

my guess would be the little girl who mother let the town peoples burn her to death needed help to save her soul and escape that awful place, some way rose and sharon were linked to the little girl to save the little girls soul from damnation/ But while trying to save the little girls soul with one of the only things that is strong in this world which is a mothers love it all kinda backfires on rose and sharon and they both get stuck in the hell/ if the little girl would of left her eyes closed the soul of the other little girl wouldnt have been able to get in her body/eyes are the window to ones soul/ well i dont know if that makes any sense but thats how i seen it

They couldn't escape because they died. When they crashed, they died, and joined the supernatural "ghosts" of Silent Hill. That's why the guy can't see his wife anymore, and that's why there's wierd things.......But since she's partially around, as a ghost, the husband can feel her. Cybil, the cop also died too. They all died in the crash......

Probably 'cause they are women in a horror film. With the notable exception of Jamie Lee Curtis, women in horror films are brainless, helpless and just waiting to be killed in some grisly fashion. Think about it!

im pretty sure it was because they had died in the car crash and they were just wandering spirits and stuck there and they are probably leaving a opening fo the second movie cause in the second game the guy's wife is dead.
