Because the pump so much money into republican coffers. The NRA at one time was a really good organization. But they got really politcal, so now they are nothing more that a PAC. They are lobbyists who try to get things their own way. They also have a lot of members. But my biggest complaint is that its an orgaization that believes that the government wants to take away their guns. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The NRA is so powerful because its members are Americans who understand just how important the Second Amendment is to the safety and security of this country, and are willing to stand up and be heard no matter what it takes. We give money when we need to; we vote how we need to; we write our senators and congressmen when we need to; but most of all, we stand up and fight for what we think is right when we need to....which is every single day of the year!
We're NEVER going away, and because of that, we'll NEVER lose our right to keep and bear arms!

A large number of people want to maintain the right to be armed. There are liberals who would like to take that right away. The UN would also like to take that right away. People support the NRA to be vigilant in this area.
