The minimum wage manipulates the economy. Some jobs do not do the work deserving that amount of money; because employers have to pay a certain amount to employees, they must charge more from their customers, thus creating inflation. When inflation occurs, some people think minimum wage needs raised, and the cycle continues.

But if you abolish minimum wage the lower class of people wont be able to find a job if they lack an education. And for some Teenagers jobs are the first step to independence and what better way to start then with a minimum wage job that requires little education and strictly time.

The minimum wage is just a platform for the unions to scale wages on. The fact that so many people out there are completely clueless when it comes to how market forces work really concerns me. They hear the "feel good" rhetoric from the demagogue party and think they are getting something for free. What little money they will get they will just go spend it on lottery tickets anyway.

An increase in minimum wage will lead to higher pay so businesses will decrease the number of workers to compensate their loses in profit. Thus, unemployment occurs. In addition, businesses around the area may increase the prices in goods and services so those without minimum wage are hurt. For example, if his/her wage stays constant (say $25/hr), they do not benefit from the rise of wages. Also, minimum wage may perpetuate even more demand for wage increase in the future. Products will cost more and serving sizes of foods decrease. As a result, people may want higher pay to compensate goods and services that are now more costly than before.

It could make unemployment compensation more in-line with the last job you worked. Is it fair for an executive that made 100K at his last job to get minimum wage while he seeks a new, similar position?
