Every time the minimum wage is raised, people lose jobs. The ones that keep them may make more than they did before, but the company can't afford to hire more for awhile, until inflation catches up. The minimum wage is the single biggest push on inflation. It's up there with major union labor contracts.
It makes a lot more sense to me to minimize the detail in regulations between labor and management, or employer and employee, with the right to sue for breach of contract becoming the major form of justice in the employment world. People will get to know what a "standard" contract is, but be able to customize to their own circumstances.

well as a person who earns minimum wage while working through school. It would be nice to raise it and get a couple of extra dollars. BUT the reality is that the market "as set by supply and demand" (since my econ teacher has engraved that in my head in high school) most likely inflation would go up and the pay raise wouldn't really matter because everything would be just as expensive.

Well for one thing, if we have to raise the salaries of those who make the minimum wage, those who are making 9 or 10 dollars will have to wait longer to get their own pay raise.

it will only put more money into an already overspending government thru income tax, cause job loss and then we get to support them on welfare.
the minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage.it was only for those entering the job market.
just like social security was never meant to be a sole source of income in retirement.
but, what the hay,it gets votes from the unwashed masses.

It's still low as crap, and costs for everything will go up so the businesses can make up for their "losses." Minimum wage will always suck.

I'm against it. Employers have to pay their employees. Where does the extra money come from? The price of the goods and services will increase. Also, if you're on salary, then what?
