My horse has a bump in the middle of his forehead. It's been getting bigger for the past week and today the hair came off exposing a festering bump that looks so sore. Could this be a boil, cyst, or what?

Well what is worrisome it that it is sore, Cap. Hes going to rub it and possibly injure an eye as well. A vet will tell you the underlying problem. Since its painful it would not be good to wait and leave him in pain. He counts on you to make the call.

Get a vet to take a look at your gelding. Even if it ends up being nothing serious, there are things that can be in his sinuses and nasal cavaties that can result in bumps on the face.

he might have bumped his head & the cut might have gotten infected. its probably a sore or something like that. put a little hydrogen peroxide on it with a cotton ball & then after the hydrogen peroxide has settled put some vasaline on it to keep flies & knats from irritating the wound or you might want to call your vet just to make sure its not something worse because i have not seen the bump. but it does sound like a cut or sore of some sort just follow the instructions i gave you!

It sounds like a cyst. If it doesn't burst on its own it may need lanced at the veterinarian office. It's not a major procedure and should heal up quickly.

It could be anything; I suggest you let the vet or someone who knows a lot about horse health know.

i'd call your vet. my friends horse had something similar on his leg from rubbing it so much and laying down a lot. it was just a fluid build up...could be that sort of thing. ?
