I assume this is referring to the amount of "pull" which is the effect of gravity. The effect of the force of gravity increases when two objects get closer together and decreases when they move further apart. This is why if you are orbiting a few miles above the Earth, you will feel virtually weightless. Because you are too far away for the pull of gravity to have any noticeable effect on you.
