The way this is written, the solution seems to me to be to weigh all bottles together and remove one bottle at a time....but I don't think that's the answer.
Are you sure the question is phrased correctly? If one of the bottles contains poison pills (plural), not just a single poison pill out of the 10, you can identify which bottle contains the poison pills by removing 1 pill from bottle #1, 2 pills from bottle #2, 3 from #3, 4 from #4, 5 from #5, 6 from #6, 7 from #7, 8 from #8, 9 from #9, and all 10 from #10. This yields 55 pills. Weigh those 55 pills. If all pills weighed 10g the weight would be 550g. So the pills will weigh 551 grams if the first bottle contains the poison pills (54 pills at 10g per pill, plus the 1 pill at 11 g). 552 means bottle #2; 553 means bottle #3....etc.
So, if only one bottle contains only one poison pill....what's the solution?

In the "poisonous" bottle, are all pills poisonous? If so, keep 1 pill in the 1st bottle (take off 9), 2 in the 2nd one, 3 in the 3rd one, ...
Then weight all the bottles together. The last digit of the measurement will tell you the number of the bottle (if it's 0, it's the 10th bottle).
If there is only one poisonous pill, you can do the same trick but cutting in tenth each pill!

I really doubt if you can find out with a single weighing. If one of the bottle has pills that are ALL poisonous then we can find out which bottle by weighing once, but if it has only ONE out of 10 in each bottle-- then no.
Well if you have an answer I'll be interested to know.

No one is answering this correctly. The whole point is to be able to find out which one has the poison, not find out if one bottle is poisonous or not. I don't know how it would be done but just thought people should get on the right track.
The only thing I would agree with is weighing them ALL at once and removing one by one but i dont think thats what the question is asking.

mark each bottle 1-10, put on the scale 1 pill from bottle 1, 2 pills from bottle 2, 3 pills from bottle 3, etc untill you hit bottle 10. use the scale and look the the ones place on the scale. if it says 1, it's bottle 1 that is safe, if 2, bottle 2 is safe, if 3, bottle 3 is safe, etc (0 would be bottle 10)

Pick one bottle, doesn't matter which one, and weigh it. If it weighs 100g, it doesn't have the poison pill. If it weighs 101 grams, it has the the poison pill.
