When Macbeth kills Duncan, he frames Duncan's sons, Malcolm and Donalbain. Macolm suspects that Macbeth is the guilty party pretty early on. Technically, it is Malcolm's army that marches on Macbeth.

Macduff's family is murdered by Macbeth because Macbeth wants to prevent the prophecy about Macduff's children becoming kings of Scotland from coming true. Alas, he does not kill Macduff in the process, so when Macduff and Malcolm finally get together, they agree to join their forces to oust Macbeth.

Once Macbeth is defeated, Malcolm takes his rightful place as king of Scotland.

So, basically,Malcolm's army comes attacks Macbeth so that they can restore the rightful king (Malcolm) to the throne.

Usually in Shakespeare's plays people that work against the natural way of things, against destiny are punished and that was what Macbeth did!
