I argued them and said that the italian filmmakers have mostly a strong tradition of slaughter Horrors...but you all do not have it !
We are just living in the country that has no good filmtraditions.

In this ******* stupid system country one can´t sell out the good horror films especially from Dario Argento or Lucio Fulci. you can´t make a money for it. The audience here are silly cowards !!
Italians are the best one for this genre.

Not all are videogame freaks. U.S. has more videogame freaks than all those countries. Oh and about the Q:
I don't think Germans are able to take such gory stuff. Their digestive systems wouldn't be able to stand it! There would be a ton of puke in German movie theaters if they watched gory and violent horror films. They're not like us Americans, not even the others!

Personally my favourite horror movies are the extreme Japanese ones. I agree that there have been some classic Italian movies made - particularly in the zombie genre. I suppose German people are not renowned for having extreme tastes and if there isn't a large market for that kind of movie they're not going to get promoted as much as in other countries (don't mean to stereotype all Germans!)
If you want to see something truly disturbing you should check out Murder Set Pieces (if you can track it down) - not sure if it is a German film but the lead character is German. It's a very brutal.

hi. my favourite horror films come from Italy and I love the films of Argento and Fulci. It will be interesting to see what reception the world gives to Argento's The Third Mother. Suspiria and Inferno are two of the most amazing films ever made - how will this compare?
My favourite German director is Werner Herzog though I love the early expressionist films of the 20's. Nosferatu is pure gold.
